How much exercise does a Kuvasz need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Kuvasz enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
Most adults are content with 45 to 75 minutes of moderate activity a day, such as two steady walks, a longer hike at the weekend and time to patrol a securely fenced garden. They are not built for long-distance running and many see little point in repetitive fetch. Scent walks and exploring new places give their minds useful work.
Solid fencing is essential, ideally at least 1.8 m (6 ft), because a Kuvasz may widen its territory if it can. Off-leash reliability is limited, especially around livestock, deer or other dogs. In hot weather walk early or late and provide shade; the thick coat holds heat and these dogs slow down sharply above about 25°C (77°F).
