How much exercise does a Polish Lowland Sheepdog need?
Daily exercise minutes, the activities a Polish Lowland Sheepdog enjoys and signs of too much or too little.
An adult needs about 60 to 90 minutes of exercise daily, combining walks, off-lead running where it is safe, and mental work. PONs enjoy herding, obedience, agility, nosework and trick training. A dog with nothing to do will find a job, such as herding the children around the garden or patrolling the front window.
The thick coat makes summer tough, so walk in the cool parts of the day and watch for heavy panting, lagging behind or searching for shade. Winter is a different story: PONs are in their element in snow, although balls of ice form in the leg hair and should be picked or melted out after walks.
