Polish Lowland Sheepdog grooming: brushing, bathing and shedding
A practical grooming routine for the Polish Lowland Sheepdog: coat care, baths, nails and ears.
Plan on a thorough brush-out at least two or three times a week, right down to the skin, using a pin brush, a slicker and a wide-toothed comb. Mats form fast behind the ears, in the armpits and along the legs. Shedding is moderate, but most loose hair stays trapped in the coat rather than falling to the floor, which is exactly why regular brushing matters.
Many pet owners keep their PON in a shorter clip of about 3 to 5 cm (1 to 2 in) for easier care. Bathe every four to six weeks and dry completely, since a dense coat left damp can lead to skin problems. Keep the hair around the eyes trimmed or tied back so the dog can see clearly, check ears weekly and clip nails every three to four weeks.
