How fast a Dalmatian puppy grows, illustrative weight estimates and the limits of predicting adult size.
Dalmatian puppies are born completely white. Spots begin to appear at around two weeks and keep filling in and darkening over the following months. Growth is fast: most pups are near adult height by 10 to 12 months and keep filling out until about 18 months. Adolescence, roughly 6 to 18 months, brings a burst of energy that surprises many first-time owners.
Every puppy should have a BAER hearing test, usually at 6 to 8 weeks, and a good breeder will show you the printed results before you choose. Keep exercise for young dogs moderate: free play on soft ground is fine, but hold off on long runs beside a bike until growth plates close at around 12 to 18 months. Mention it to your vet if a pup seems slow to respond to sounds or startles badly when touched while asleep.
