Pomsky health: what owners should know

As a cross, a Pomsky can inherit health issues from either parent breed. From the Pomeranian side, these include kneecap problems, dental disease and a collapsing windpipe. From the Husky side, they include eye conditions such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy, and hip dysplasia. Some Pomskies also have skin and coat issues.

Responsible breeders health test both parents, including hips, eyes and knees, and should share results openly. At home, keep your Pomsky lean, brush its teeth and use a harness rather than a collar if it pulls. See a vet if your dog develops a honking cough, a limp or skipping gait, cloudy eyes, or struggles to see in dim light.
